ebrary is our major e-books provider. The following discussion relates to ebrary only.  If you require assitance with another library e-books provider, please visit us at the Info Desk.

Using ebrary

Ebrary titles can be viewed online, both on and off campus (the latter requires your mymru user-name and password).  However, to get access to all of ebrary's features, including creating your own bookshelf and saving or downloading for offline acess, you must

 ·         create an ebrary account

Once you have an ebrary account, you have the options of:

·         saving a chapter or range of pages for indefinite offline access

·         downloading the entire book for access within specified period

Saving a Chapter or Range of Pages

You can easily save a chapter or specific pages of an ebook as a PDF document to your desktop, laptop or mobile device.

You can then read these saved PDF documents offline anytime with Adobe Reader, a PDF viewing software available for free download on the web,

Download an Entire Book to Your Desktop / Laptop

To read e-books offline on your desktop or laptop, you need to install Adobe Digital Editions.

Downloaded e-book(s) will expire in 14 days and you can have up to 10 titles at a time.

If you then want to transfer a downloaded title to an e-reader, you'll also need to obtain an Adobe ID.

Download an Entire Book to Your Mobile Device

To read e-books offline on your tablet or phone (both Android and iOS), you need to install Bluefire Reader.

Access period is 14 days and you can download up to 10 titles at the same time.

Kindle Users

Direct download to Kindle Fire e-readers is not supported because of Amazon's proprietary software.

However, you can download e-books to your desktop or laptop first, then transfer over to your Kindle e-reader for offline access.
